Funny how a person that predominantly fishes the saltwater can still know a thing or two about the sweet. Most of my Fresh water fishing has seen salmon steelhead and trout fall for many a “borrowed” fly. So I’ve decided to open up the fly case and learn to tie a few of these patterns in order to make the database more whole.
Here Goes:
Parachutes are a tad fussy to tie—they take me several minutes to tie—but they are well worth the time.
Hook: Long shank hook in 10 or 12
Tails: Gray Micro-fibbet tails
Body: Straight Ice Dub (Olive or a blend of Olive, Peacock and Brown. Whatever you think imitates the underside of the green drakes where you fish.)
Post: Calf tail or your choice
Hackle: Grizzly hackle
